After 2 days of steady rain we are rewarded with a gorgeous sunset at the Fripp Island Marina. Plus the crab cake and salmon were equally gorgeous. @tabadaletravels #frippisland #sunset #gorgeous #southcarolina #lowcountry

My new neighbors in Fripp Island. I haven’t seen deer back in Scottsdale for a long time… since there is so much building ( new homes) near where I live. I’m one if those “ Let me in but close the gate behind me” kind of people. @tabadaletravels #golf #frippisland #southcarolina #lowcountry #deer #golftravel

Magnificent live oak tree at Secession Golf Club in South Carolina. I finally learned from our caddie it called a live oak because leaves are always coming in when others are shedding so the tree is never dormant. @tabadaletravels #southcarolina #lowcountry #golf #golftravel #caddies #walkinggolf #trees

What a fantastic surprise to see Amy Bockerstette at the GCSAA Show with one of my favorite people- Jan Bel Jan. Amy is a very competitive amateur golfer and disabilities advocate with Down syndrome. With her parents, Jenny and Joe, she has formed the I Got This Foundation, named as a tribute to her thrilling par that she made playing the raucous par-3 16th hole with Gary Woodland during the 2019 WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale. Hitting her tee shot out of a bunker and making an 8 foot putt, she declared, “I Got This!” Amy has completed her college career and among other activities, competes in the Special Olympics and Adaptive Golf Tournaments. Jan, a past president of ASGCA, and very active golf course architect, based in Florida, is going to design a golf hole with Amy! They might even name it “The Woodland.” @tabadaletravels @asgca1947 @igotthis.foundation @gcsaa @amybockerstette @wmphoenixopen #garywoodland #golf #golfarchitecture #janbeljan @specialolympics @adaptivegolfprogram

Great to see so much of my hero, Mel Lucas, at the GCSAA Show here in Phoenix. Just about everyone in the greenkeeping industry in the U.S. and Europe knows this legendary man who wrote the book: “A History of Greenkeeping” which is full of fascinating details, historic photos, and even a lovely 1899 pen and ink drawing of Old Tom Morris by Harrison Fisher.@tabadaletravels #gcsaa @golfheritagesociety #golf #golfindustry #melvinlucas #golfarchitecture #golfarchitects #golftravel @visitphoenix

I was blown away when I saw Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc at Forrest Richardson’s party! Of course I had to have a taste of it. Kevin and I had lunch at the Craggy Range Winery in New Zealand around this time last year. The food was exceptional and the setting was magical. Forrest, a past president of the ASGCA, is that extraordinary golf architect who is equally tuned into making courses that are both fun to play and sustainable. He and wife Valerie are so wonderful to open his home to those of attending the GCSAA show. @tabadaletravels @forrestrichardsongolf #golf #golfarchitecture #golffun #sustainablegolf @craggyrange #sauvignonblanc @gcsaa @asgca1947 #golftravel

Can you believe this amazing car that Forrest Richardson restored!!?? It is a historic BMW that Forrest said could be worth as much as $200,000 at a Barrett Jackson Auction. That is a big annual event we have here in Scottsdale around this time.

Last night Forrest Richardson and his lovely wife Valerie hosted a big party at their magnificent house on the edge of Paradise Valley. Forrest, wearing his red tartan jacket, is a past president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. Donal’s Ross is a founder of the ASGCA. Forrest has been a golf course architect for decades. He has designed and remodeled courses all over the map, but close to home for me is Mountain Shadow’s, where he did a remarkable job, with spectacular views of Camelback Mountain. It’s so popular, it’s hard to get a tee time there!! @tabadaletravels @forrestrichardsongolf @gcsaa @asgca1947 #golf #golfarchitecture @mountainshadowsaz #golfindustry #golfindustryshow @phoenixconvctr #shortcourse
